So, about 3 months since my last post. Busy busy. I have moved into a new home in the North suburbs of Atlanta. Up in Cumming. It is a really nice place, albeit, much more expensive than the old homestead. But the location couldn't be any nicer and we really like the community we are in. Making major changes to the home as well, getting a fence put up around the back yard and trying to get some other stuff finished off.
We also have a new addition to our household, Buddy is a 2 year old Beagle and is just the sweetest, cutest dog. He has a few weak spots that we are working on but most of them just amount to him being a Beagle. He is about the beaglest beagle I have ever run across. Headstrong, stubborn, and a bundle of energy. But, he loves to cuddle and my wife has really taken to him. She has taken to him in a way that she never did with our other dog and I think that she regrets that now. Our other dog passed away about a year ago from complications from leptosporisis. My wife was really broken up over the loss of our dog, as was I. I think that Buddy is going to benefit from her desire to really get the most out of our companions in the future. So, Buddy gets to do all the things that Charlie never got to do. Amongst the biggest is sleeping in the Big Bed with us. And he surely loves to do that. Settles right in for the night and sleeps laying next to one of us, all curled up and cute. The job is still going on strong, I really do like the new place and am enjoying the challenges of working there. Still trying to figure out where I am going to settle in within the organization but all in all, I have had a really lucky break getting in there. The work is challenging but most of my colleagues are professional, and competent and that is something that I have not been able to say for a while. I am still serving in the Reserve and recently got promoted to Sergeant. I fully expect to get deployed sometime in early 2009. Waiting to find out the location since there appears to be some movement in operations, a new concentration on Afghanistan which may mean a shift in deployments to that location. So, lots of news and generally trying to get by. Getting older now and the body is not as quick to recover from problems. I am still trying to heal up from an old stress fracture in my foot and that is a serious pain. I am going to have to work hard to get back into shape once I get back to the gym again. We have sort of been on a break from working out in the gym since we have had to walk our dog more heavily and that is a lot of exercise in itself. But, I really need to get back in there and do some running once this fracture gets healed. |
